Judy Cuppy moved to Sarasota from Valparaiso, Indiana where she was the Recruiting Coordinator for Valparaiso University.  As she has always been fond of older people and stories they have to tell, she began to zero in on care for seniors.  After visiting local hospitals and rehabilitation centers, she decided that the best way to go was a peer program, designed to provide services by active seniors who realize how important it is for their less ambulatory age group to remain independent.  Another reason for starting this type of business was due to her grandmother being in a nursing home for 18 years and remembering how badly she missed her home, her garden and her privacy.  A nursing home promises care, but not home life.

Dear Judy & Carrie,

Mom loved orchids and always kept them in the house. She would have loved the one you sent for Dad. Thank for the plant and mostly for the care and concern you took to have the right person with mom and dad at the right time. And of course, thank you for rolling with the punches as their needs changed. The Huston/Lublin family is in your debt.

"I missed my work so much this past winter. Those dear elderly people just have a way of getting to my heart. I am planning to come to Florida again this winter....I plan to work for SHC when I get down again. Its just an enjoyable work.... Until then, “take care” and hope all is well"

- Mary, SHC Caregiver

"Thank you for being part of the team caring for Fran and Warren Rupple as we planned and transitioned to Assisted Living. There are times in our lives when we have to put trust in other people to do the right thing. Thank you for being dependable and trustworthy at this time when we needed it."
- Rupple Family, Sarasota, FL
